Elephant Skin On My Marshmallow Fondant

Eww eww eww......... I got elephant skin on with marshmallow fondant!!! Why?? Why did my marshmallow fondant start looking like elephant skin when I starting rolling it out and covering my cake???

Not a pretty site!! Its a little on the gross side!! Looks like it is sick. I have read about all the cases of elephant skin MMF but have never had that problem. Well today I got my first case of elephant skin! I am not a fan of it either.

Only one thing happened different.... I used mini marshmallows. I think I didn't melt them enough or I had too many marshmallows. When I kneaded the fondant it still had a little marshmallow texture. That is what caused the elephant skin. Next time I use mini marshmallows I am going to be sure to melt them down good or add more powdered sugar and see if that helps. That has to be why it happened. I will keep you posted the next time I make it that way. :)

  1. this happens to me sometimes when i add too much powdered sugar or when i leave it out without kneading for more than 5 minutes...the fondant gets dry, try rubbing vegetable shortening on it, that will conceal the rougher texture, well it works for me anyways :)

    love you blog!

  2. Thanks so much!!! I will try that!!!

Thanks so much for your comments!! They really keep me going!! You guys rock!!
